The work of making disciples can only be accomplished in the power of the Holy Spirit.
- It is the Spirit who opens our eyes to the truth of Christ, who makes us spiritually alive, who takes away our dead heart and gives us a new heart that longs for righteousness. We can only be saved by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can only grow in grace by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- In our preaching, teaching, counseling, and serving — we must be careful to do so aware of our dependence upon the Spirit. We must be sure not to preach a gospel of religious works, nor sanctification by the flesh.
A faith-based recovery community that provides encouragement, support, and accountability to any who are struggling with addiction.
Just a thought…
Would we also want to add more about the Holy Spirit here? What are His ministries? How He inspired the Word, and reveals the truth it contains by illuminating our mind and heart. Also… What He does —
- How He always points us to Christ?
- His role in dispensing the gifts (therefore we do NOT do spiritual gift inventories!!),
- How He produces the fruit of the Spirit in the life of every believer… etc.
- How some gifts were prevalent in former times, and not now (though let us be cautious about cessationism! God can, and sometimes does, act in keeping with His sovereign nature by exhibiting some of those former gifts in missional contexts.
- This is a good place and an opportunity to teach people what we learn about the HS from the Scriptures. Just a thought!
